PERSONALITY:

Being only seventeen, Steve is your stereotypical teenage boy at first glance. He’s outwardly cocky, overly confident and self assured. He puts up a brave front in an attempt to keep anyone from seeing how hurt and alone he really is. Due to recent events in his life, Steve has a very low opinion of other people, tending to push them away instead of giving them a chance to prove trustworthy. When he first meets Claire, he’s abrasive—seemingly overjoyed at finding another living human in the zombie infested prison, yet brushing her off with an excuse that she’ll only “slow him down” if they worked together. Due to actions of his father that led to his mother being killed and both of them being imprisoned on Rockfort Island, Steve is quick to judge others as stupid and greedy, and would much rather put trust in himself than in anyone else. However, he will be extremely protective of those rare few that prove to be trustworthy, good people. He proves to do just this for Claire later in Rockfort, as the more they run into one another the more he comes to like and trust her.

Steve has a bad habit of being prideful and overconfident of himself, even when and where it is not due. The time in which he manages to survive is likely due to sheer dumb luck than any actual survival skills, has Steve also has a habit of being reckless and hotheaded—he even manages to get himself caught in a hotbox by taking a pair of gold lugers he finds without checking for a trap (and lacking the perception to realize replacing the weapons would likely reset the trap). As typical of teenage boys, he’s quick to be distracted by things boys often find cool, such as guns, explosions, vehicles, etc. He gets pretty excited about a pair of automatic weapons Claire gives him in a trade—up until he realizes they are completely devoid of ammo.

Underneath his shell of stereotypical behavior, however, lies a sad, angry, hurt, and scared young man. His father worked for Umbrella and, in a move Steve calls “stupid”, tried to sell their secrets in a auction. The actions of his father caused his mother to be shot down in front of him, and landed both him and his father in Rockfort Prison. Having lost both parents and all respect for his father, Steve is a lonely young man that simply craves to have attention from someone that genuinely cares for him. When he’s caught thinking about his former life (such as when he and Claire are confronted by his zombified father) he can be extremely sensitive and emotional, quite nearly prompting a breakdown.

Over all, Steve is a good kid trying to act like a badass. He has a powerful sense of what is right and wrong in the world, and he refuses to betray his own principles when it really matters. He can be annoyingly persistent, and insistent on protecting others even if they don’t need it. But it is perhaps this intense need to protect what he values that ends up being his saving grace, allowing him to break the control of the Veronica virus long enough to save Claire’s life as his last act.

ABILITIES: This badass can operate a submarine, a plane, and a snow mobile. No one knows where the hell he learned those skills, but it’s the one thing he deserves to be cocky about.

Steve can also operate several fire arms, from basic pistols to classic lugers to fully-automatic submachine guns. We’re not going to say anything about the fact the kid wastes ammo like a nut—he at least manages to hit a few things now and then.

Considering the fact that Steve hasn’t been seen since his death in Code: Veronica (it is still undetermined if said death was permanent or simply a matter of the virus needing time to help him regenerate—it’s a point of contention among fans) it is unknown what effects the Veronica virus could have on him in game. It is completely possible that given proper conditions such as severe emotional distress or physical harm that the virus may take hold and transform him into a beast once more. Should this potentially come into play, mods would be contacted for permission.

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
[After several moments spent tinkering the video feed finally comes live, featuring a rather confused looking boy.]

This thing on? [He taps the screen before reaching up to tug at the collar around his neck.] So...A ship huh? Guess it beats Antarctica--and zombies.

[And viruses. But we'll just leave that bit out.] Any idea how we all ended up here, or is it just one crazy ride for all of us?

And has anyone seen a girl named Claire?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
The pinprick of a needle, the fire of Veronica rushing through his veins--none of it could compare to the pain he felt now. The virus was starting to take hold as he sat, pinned to this damned column. He could only stare helplessly at Claire as she sat worried in front of him.

"Ru--" He tried to warn her, the word turning into a pained howl and he could swear he was feeling his bones shift. The transformation took a matter of minutes, and he wasn't aware of just how twisted his form was. All he could register was a rage, the need to destroy, and the terrified girl in from of him.

She turned to run, and he followed like the hunting beast he now was. There was no where she could go, and it wasn't long until he caught her at the end of the hall, vines springing from the ground to hold her in place as he raised his axe--the same axe that held him before the transformation had knocked it lose and set him free--for the kill. But he couldn't do it, his blade stopping just a hair's breath away from her neck..

"C-Claire?" His mind was still muddled with the viral rage, but recognition had finally dawned on him. He couldn't hurt her, so his rage found a new direction, focusing on cutting her free from the vines she was tangled up in. He didn't account for the fact that by refusing to hurt Claire he would bring Alexia's wrath upon himself--couldn't have known it until one of those vines ran him through. It was funny that a virus that could be used to regenerate started to recede the moment he needed it most, leaving him to die.

He could vaguely hear Claire, telling him how he was going to be all right, even as his form shrank back into the feeble human shape he always wore and his blood continued to spill onto the stone floor beneath them. He had to laugh, the sound pathetic, weak, and painful.

"Your brother kept his promise, I'm sorry I can't." He murmured, gripping the hand she had cupped to his cheek--so warm against his quickly cooling skin. "I'm glad I met you. I...I love you Cl--aire." His words dropped off, body sagging as he used his last breath to say goodbye.
